Golborne's impressive National Cup run ended at the weekend as they failed to produce the performances that have seen them get to this 1/4 final stage. The game against Kells was always going to be a tough one facing a Cumbrian team unbeaten all season and themselves on a good cup run. However it was the Kells side who had the extra bite on the day and Golborne will have now get their heads back to the league.
You can all be proud of your achievements though lads and this has certainly been an experience hopefully you won't forget, but also will come across again at Under 16s. Well done to all of you!!
Back to business this weekend with the return leg of the Cuthberts fixture.....so close to taking the 2 points early on in the season Golborne will certainly be hoping to put thngs right! Hopefully now with a great deal more experience of these "top flight" games the lads can put on a performance worth 2 more valuable premiership points!
We always knew this would be tough and it certainly is that - our first priority was to make sure we held our own, not get shown up and keep our place in the league establishing ourselves as a premiership side - the season is far from over but we all think you have done that!! You are all stepping up that extra gear we needed off you and we now need another gear in the second half of the season. There have been some superb performances this year most notably against Cuthberts and Portico and more recently against Blackbrook and Featherstone - think back to these games and lets take that into these next few months.
Every one of you has made marked improvements this year and that can only keep helping you as a team. Congratulations go to Greg Wilde and Ben Currie for making regional camp and further congratulations go to Ben who has worked his way in to the National Camp programme. A fantastic achievement, well done!
Keep up this hard work and attitude lads
